Now Legendary Entertainment is doing the latter with a new TV series that will be set in the Land of Oz, but their hope is to introduce stories and characters who have yet to be brought to the screen. Some have taken direct cues from the 1939 movie, while others put their own spin on the world created by author L. The title of the third book in the series is Sky Pirates of Oz.There have been plenty of projects over the years inspired by the classic film The Wizard of Oz. Two more are scheduled as part of her commission with the Baum Family Trust. Books written by Smith are The Emerald Wand of Oz, 2005 and Trouble under Oz, 2006, with illustrations by William Stout. McGraw also wrote The Forbidden Fountain of Oz, 1980 and The Rundelstone of Oz, 2000. Books written by McGraw were Merry Go Round in Oz, 1963, with illustrations by Dickinson P. But it wasn't published until 1993 by The International Wizard of Oz Club. Cosgrove also wrote The Wicked Witch of Oz, in 1954. Books written by Cosgrove were The Hidden Valley of Oz, 1951, with illustrations by Richard H ka Dirk Gringhuis. Books written by Snow are The Magical Mimics in Oz, 1946 and The Shaggy Man of Oz, 1949. Finally, in 1995, Books of Wonder published it with illustrations by Eric James Shanower. So Reilly & Lee decided not to publish the manuscript. He had sketches and rough drawings for the front cover, but no illustrations. Before his death, Neill had completed a draft of The Runaway in Oz. The books written by Neill were The Wonder City of Oz, 1940 The Scalawagons of Oz, 1941 and Lucky Bucky in Oz, 1942. But they aren't considered part of the Famous Forty. Thompson also wrote Yankee in Oz, 1972 and The Enchanted Island of Oz, 1976. The books written by Thompson are The Royal Book of Oz, 1921 Kabumpo in Oz, 1922 The Cowardly Lion of Oz, 1923 Grampa in Oz, 1924 The Lost King of Oz, 1925 The Hungry Tiger of Oz, 1926 The Gnome King of Oz, 1927 The Giant Horse of Oz, 1928 Jack Pumpkinhead of Oz, 1929 The Yellow Knight of Oz, 1930 Pirates in Oz, 1931 The Purple Prince of Oz, 1932 Ojo in Oz, 1933 Speedy in Oz, 1934 The Wishing Horse of Oz, 1935 Captain Salt in Oz, 1936 Handy Mandy in Oz, 1937 The Silver Princess in Oz, 1938 and Ozoplaning with the Wizard of Oz, 1939. But they aren't considered part of the Famous Forty Royal Histories that mainly were published by Reilly & Lee. When Oz book specialistst and devoted Oz book fans talk about the Oz books, they tend to refer to what are ka the Famous Forty. Whatever the title, it's first in the series of Oz books by author and Oz series originator Lyman Frank Baum. It's aka The Wizard of Oz, published in that same year, by M.A. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is the title of a book that was published in 1900 by George M Hill Publishing Co of Chicago and New York in Chicago, Illinois.
